Darth Vader (2015) Issues 1-12 - The Episode Between Episodes

Elora and Dave talk about the impact of Marvel Comics 2015 run of Darth Vader issues 1-12. They discuss the debut of instant Star Wars characters like Dr. Aphra, Triple 0 and BT-1, how the relationship between Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine is revealed because of this arc, Dr Cylo-5 and his light saber wielding cyborg unit looking to replace Vader, and of course

Also, Matthew Freeman (playwright/director) reads one of his pieces from his newsletter, AHCH-TO BABY called STAR WARS: WHAT STAR WARS ISN'T.

Marvel Comics launched it’s reboot of the Star Wars comics in 2015 with two books - DARTH VADER and STAR WARS.

The stories followed the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Yavin and gave us never before stories of our heroes (and villains’). In Star Wars, we followed the rebels as they escaped the Empire and on the flip side (or the dark side) we follow Vader as he is punished by the Emperor for his failings to get the Death Star Plans back and the destruction of the Death Star as well as Vader’s own mission to discover the identity of the force user who destroyed it.

The first 12 issues are full of political intrigue, manipulation and a droid whose sole focus and delight is to torture and kill living beings. You know, all the things you’d expect in a Vader comic.
